they use those special heroes because they can beat any hero in the game than anyone else..
For example, if you see a Luna in the forest She will surely use her ulti, automatic dead.
Void: Chrono,Mask of Death, automatic dead.
Silkwood: Stun, Swap, Stun automatic dead.
etc. My favorite now is Akasha.^^

Viper - Absolute lane control.
Swapper - Easiest gank.
Akasha - The nukes + the blink = Unkillable nuker
Void - Bash + Backtrack + Timewalk = Best late-game hero
Others, I'm not quite sure why they'd choose them. But generally, it's because those heros are the "best in this area" and "best in that area" etc.
