The sky was a vibrant blue, lazy clouds of fluff drifting in the midst. The sun was shining equally vibrant, its marvelous radiance making shadows behind figures that lived their lives below on the ground. People had lived almost their entire lives under the heat of the sun because they knew that, despite the heat and sweat the sun gave them, they needed it to stay alive. Without the sun darkness will reign, and the creatures of the night would go unseen terrorizing unaware people in the night.
It was a particularly hot day. It was hotter than usual, and though she knew she needed the sun like everybody else to stay safe she wished it gone for just a second to be able to catch her breath. The other thing was that she was running late, making her sweat even more.
Her name was Ayra and she lived an ordinary life with her brother, James. While Ayra lived in an apartment James bought years ago, her brother spends his time working in America to support Ayra's studies. They barely lived with each other for even a day, for even if Ayra was free, James was rarely at home.
Ayra had long ebony hair which flowed behind her when she walked. She had almond-colored eyes and a very-used mouth. She loved doing things that helped her achieve her goal to succeed in life and had an adventurous spirit. Nobody would ever get bored with her around and would rarely get to take a break.
Ayra had a best friend named Emily. She always makes sure that her chestnut hair was neatly tied in a ponytail. Her also brown eyes were always cheerful, and she had a very straight-forward attitude. They had always been together from kinder to high school.
"We're running late again Ayra," panted Emily, gaping at her watch. "Class is starting in about five minutes. We'll never make it."
"Of course we can," Ayra retorted. " We just have to pedal faster...if only my legs aren't so numb today."
Beside her, Emily made a sound that was some sort of whine but kept pedaling. A minute later they were running down the corridors, running towards their classroom. In front of the door, however, both were hesitant to open it.
"What if Sir Miguel's early today? We'd get in trouble." mumbled Emily, looking at Ayra with worried eyes. "Then let's get in before we get a second more late, Em. You open it. I'm not feeling well." Ayra replied, leaning on the wall to sustain her balance. "Ayra, you look a little pale- well, paler than normal." said Emily, now looking as if she'd do anything to get sick right now too. "I'm fine, just open the door so we can sit down." Ayra mumbled.
WIth a nod her friend pushed the door open and peered inside. Their teacher was standing near the black board, scribbling something on it. He noticed the two girls and smiled. "It's always a pleasure to have you two in my class," he says. "Sit down now. Ayra, do you need some water?"
Ayra shook her head, then proceeded to the back of the class next to the window while Emily sat in front of her. Sir Miguel was back to his discussion again, and only when he had mentioned their project's deadline an hour later did Ayra looked up and listened.
"If any of you are able to give your projects to me a day earlier then I'd give you bonus points," said the teacher cheerfully. "So if you think you don't understand what the hell you're going to put into that research I suggest you submit it early to avoid getting a zero." He chuckled.
Most of the class groaned except Joshua, who was the nerd of the class. In fact, he was smiling ear-to-ear because he knew what exactly to give their teacher. Emily looked back at Ayra. "Then let's do it after school. Do you mind?" "No I don't, It's sounds like a good idea. You sure your mom won't get angry?" Ayra asked. "No. I'll tell her later at lunch. I'll see you at the library after school."
---------------
The light of the moon illuminated the dark patches on the corridor. The breeze send in a chilling breeze, making Ayra sigh to herself contentedly. Both walked hurridly towards the library, where a single bulb lighted the place, casting eerie shadows behind the shelves of books. Emily turned a took out a book from a shelf and started looking over the pages. Ayra looked around the shelves for a book that might had the answeres to her questions when she spotted a volume that looked suspicious. She took it out and scanned the pages, reading some of the texts she encountered. The pictures were scary and weird and unreal at the same time, that it gripped her interest.
"Emily, I'll talk to the librarian in the faculty for a while," she told her friend. Emily rose an eyebrow. "Found another good book?" she asked, but then let Ayra go anyway.
Books had been her company when she was at home. She was always with one when eating, when studying, when getting ready to sleep. Her mind was always filled with them unlike other girls her age who thought of boys and handsome men. Emily wasn't like that, sure, but she just didn't share her best friend's addiction to books.
Her hair was blown to the side by a comforting cold wind- Ayra had always loved being in the cold. Somehow, ice and chill had a good effect on her; heat would only make her tired, only make her weak. She looked out the window, staring at the moon with her almond-colored eyes. It looked so beautiful, so peaceful...
A headache cut through her head, erasing her thoughts about the moon and making her stagger to the wall. Her headaches were occuring much often now than before, and that worried Her. Nevertheless she hadn't told anyone about it...yet.
Then she saw him. He was standing in the lawn below the high school building, looking up at her as if he knew her well. She frowned at that. She had never seen him before, but with the wind blowing his long hair behind him with his smiling mouth and pale skin, he looked familiar.
She shook her head then looked down at him again, but he was gone. Perhaps she was dreaming? She held her forehead with her right hand. It must've been the wind or she was just tired. What else could it have been?
while proceeding to the faculty at the end of the corridor, she heard a soft bang that came from the floor above her. She froze in her step. 'Was it the guard? Was he hurt, or am I just imagining things?' she thought frantically. She was getting scared, but being her adventurous self, she turned and climbed up the dark stairs towards the fourth floor.
It was creepier there than in the previous floor she came from. Only the light of the moon illuminated her surroundings, and most was shaded in the safety of darkness. Clutching the book to her chest, she continued walking towards the sound that kept errupting from one of the classrooms. The door was ajar, and she slipped through it silently, her eyes adjusting to the black darkness that surrounded the room. At first she thought that she was alone, that nobody was there. But when she turned her head to the broken window, her eyes met with blood-red ones.
She swallowed her sream, taking a step back to the door. "Who-who are you?" she asks, stammering, forcing the words out of her mouth. "If this is a joke, I'll tell the teachers so cut it out..."
But whatever that thing was, it didn't reply. It just took a step forward with its eyes still glaring at her to keep her in place. Ayra was sweating furiously now. She wanted to run, to scream for help, but with those eyes looking at her she remained immobile, as if under a spell. Her eyes were growing teary with fright, and her head was screaming in pain. Why did this have to happen in all nights? And why did she have to be the unlucky one to go up and check this out?
It was reaching for her now, and she could see clearly that it was a guy. She was about to shout at him when she thought him a school mate but when she looked at his face she realized he was the same person she saw only a little while ago. She clamped her mouth with one hand, the other groping behind her for the door knob. If only her voice wasn't stuck in her throat.
Before she knew it he was holding her straight, looking deeply into her eyes, his face only inches from hers. She was blushing now, and the closeness made her stiffen a lot more. What is he doing...?
He widened his smile revealing sharp, needle-like teeth. Courage had abandoned her now, and she was shaking tearfully. He bent closer, whispering, "This won't hurt a bit."
Then there was pain. She grabbed at her neck, tears now running down her eyes. It was unbearable. Panicking she tried pushing him away, but that only made it hurt more. Slowly she weakened, with only his arms to support her.
He withdrew almost hesitantly, and when he did she was appalled by the sight of blood dripping from his mouth, as red as his eyes. She sank to the floor, still looking up at him in horror.
"Thank you, my dear." he says, bending again, but this time capturing her lips with his own. Her eyes widened a bit, but she was too weak to retaliate against his action.
He drew back and just kneeled there in front of her, surveying her face. At this moment Emily chanced upon and entered the room. At first she didn't say anything, but after that she was screaming.
"Who are you and what have you done to Ayra?!" she screamed, running to her best friend's side. "Oh Ayra, you look so weak, we have to get you to a doctor fast, you're even bleeding..." she stammered like a possesed man.
But Ayra wasn't paying attention to her or to what was happening. She was just staring at the man who threatened to kill her with a single kiss. She could only feel the pain in her neck, the taste of her own blood on her lips, and see his ruby eyes. Tears were still cascading down her cheeks, falling to her knees.
"Why?" she asked weakly, her voice too hoarse from the silence. Emily blinked and quieted down, but followed her friend's gaze up the man. "And who are you?" she added to Ayra's question.
He smiled again, wider but without showing his teeth. "Kain," he replied while putting both hands on both girls' heads. "Kain Heinlein."
At that moment he said his name, bright light surrounded the two, and blinding pain struck their heads. It was hard to explain, however; there was a mixture of the falling sensation in their stomachs and chest pain. She thought they would die, Ayra and her, and nobody will be able to find their bodies anymore, since they were being taken away by this madman. Whatever he did to Ayra he was sure going to do it to her too. Before she lost consciousness, only one question flooded her mind. Where are they going?

I'm not really sure if that's chapter 1, but it's done. Any questions? i know it's kinda confusing, and the plot is not clear yet- to me or anyone else. >_<;
