I need academic advice by Tuesday! Or whenever.

So here's the sitch:

I did not shift during first year, so I am stuck laboring over Plato and Aristotle. Next week it will be Machiavelli. I realize that it's not for me, and as much as I love the dirt in Philippine politics it has proved not enough motivation for me to continue this for the next 2 years. So I decide to shift.

Now, because of weird arrangements in Ateneo when you shift in sophomore year, I will be a floating student (not literally, LOL) meaning, I won't have major subjects, just core ones. I have yet to verify if I can possibly advance some subjects.

And another thing, I dunno how my parents will react. I mean, it's bragging rights enough that I am here, but then, it's an even bigger bragging right if I stuck with PolSci. So it might not sit well with them if I tell them that I am shifting to Eng-Lit.

And I am also contemplating whether I will drop this particular subject of mine this semester, because it's been giving me a hard time, and my grades in the other subjects will suffer and I WILL suffer a worse fate when that happens. It will mean GOODBYE ATENEO.

So now, here's my plan. Ideally, this will happen without a sitch.
I drop the subject, shift to Eng-Lit, and try to apply for advisement for Lit subjects so I don't waste too much time.

So should I go through with it?

This is reason enough. I think you should go through with it. You were always more suited for English Literature, I believe.

It sucks to do a job that bothers you more than it should..

Some sacrifices and compromises should be made, though..



But if you think your life will end up better, then by all means, do it..

IMO taking Lit will probably open more doors for you than PolSci could, but just out of curiosity what job did you want to get when you took the course

originally, I had wanted to become a lawyer. but now that I am taking polsci subjects, I totally changed my mind about being a lawyer. altho, i can still pursue law if I shift to lit.

@lucy: yeah, i really think I'm like that. As in what I'm currently doing/busy with is so sabog, and NOT even related to my course, like Loyola Film Circle, The GUIDON, etc. as in walang direction ang mga ginagawa ko ngayon, kaya patapon.

but anyway, as for the money thing, if you're really good at what you love doing, i thing the money will come on it's own. if you wanna be an artist, you can start building a portfolio at this point.
