God was angry because "the world was getting too violent", so he killed everyone to make the world less violent.

"And Er, Judah's firstborn, was wicked in the sight of the Lord; and the Lord slew him." What did Er do to elicit God's wrath? The Bible doesn't say. Maybe he picked up some sticks on Saturday.

Lot's nameless wife was told by God not to look back, but she looked back anyways, so God turned her into a pillar of salt. Yes, that's right. Be careful what you're looking at or God will damn you to hell forever.

(Exodus 4: 24-26) God decides to kill Moses because his son had not yet been circumcised. Penises are supremely important to God, and he can't stand foreskins.

(Exodus 15:3) "The Lord is a man of war." Indeed, judging from his acts in the Old Testament, he is a vicious warlike monster.

(Exodus 21:15,17) A child who hits or curses his parents must be executed.

(Exodus 22:20) "He who sacrificeth unto any god, save unto the Lord only, he shall be utterly destroyed." If this commandment is obeyed, then the four billion people who do not believe in the biblical god must be killed.

I'm sure there are a WHOLE lot more, but I think you get my point.

We can't compare the Bible with the customs of the past time. It's totally different now compared thousands of years ago.

Their cultures and traditions are different from ours. What do we know about their time?

And yes, Tofiluk, the bible is symbolic. People before speak in...i dunno...signs? >_<

Bible may be symbolic, but there is still the concept of crime and punishment. The Biblical God punishes people too easily.

Anyways, I get confused because of the bible too. T_T But I don't blame God. I still respect Him. I'm trying to stick to something I've known and believed in for such a long time.

My teacher is an extremely logical professor. He has turned me from an atheist to an agnostic. I don't reject the idea of God anymore. Although I do know that due to the nature of the subject, the existence of God is unknowable.
