This will be quite short. It's a question, really.
Why did God put a Tree of Knowledge of Right and Wrong in the Garden of Eden?

Actually, the creation story's just a symbolic thing. It never happened. According to our old teacher.

Wait a sec, that just leads to another question:
Why are we baptized?

Baptism is sort of like an initiation rite to a religion.. LOL.. That's how I see it ah.. Dunno if that's really the explanation for that..

chuna's right... it's a symbolism...
baptism.. sort of what martin said.. renewal of the body.. kind of cleansing.. and religion too.. also it is a start of you having a vocation.. to continue His mission..

So then, if it's symbolism, then would anyone care to show me their interpretation of Genesis?

AJ: you're joking!
BD: you see it's like this dude, the Genesis is divided into two parts: the Priestly accounts, and the Yahwist accounts.. the Priestly accounts are from Genesis 1:1- 2:4a.. while the Yahwist are Genesis 2:4b - 25.. the Priestly acct are the Day 1 to Day 7 story.. the Yahwist didnt mentioned any Day 1 to Day 7 but both ended up the same thing..
Priestly: Day one: Light and Darkness Day two: Waters above and Waters below Day three: Dry land, Vegetation Day four: Moon Sun and Stars Day five: Birds and Sea Creatures Day SIx: animals and Adam and Eve Day seven: Rest..
Yahwist: there was waters and chaos.. God seperated the waters. waters above meant heaven and waters below meant (i forgot..).. heheh.. Then God ordered that there was land.. and there was.. Then God created the Sun, Moon. And God created the Garden of Eden.. full of trees and stuff.. In the middle of the Garden was the Tree of Life, and the Tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil.. Then God created man.. Then because God saw that man was lonely, God created animals.. (he gave man the power to name the animals.) Then God saw that man was still unhappy, he created the Woman.. (he also gave man the power to name the Woman.) Then God said that they could eat anything in the Garden, except the fruit from the Tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil..
and so on and so forth..
i know, it's confusing, i forgot my Theo notebook at home! haha! i'll edit this and give you guys extra ideas.. correct me if i'm wrong..
whew!
oops, i forgot, before they committed sin to the Lord, Adam and Eve were both naked.. and they weren't ashamed with it..
haha! i read my post and i forgot to answer BD's request! ahha! next time...!

I don't really care who authored that story. The story of Adam and Eve isn't true. It was confirmed by my Religion teacher. It's a myth made by the imaginations of priestly authors. Just like Noah's Ark was an epic which is copied from Gilgamesh.
Which leads me to another question. If we cannot trust the Bible to tell us where we came from, how can we trust it to know where we're going?

Krein: I'm not kidding. They wouldn't baptize me 'cause my parents weren't married. Before you're baptized, your parents need to show their marriage certificate.

If the creation story did not happen, what do you people think of teaching eighteen hundred children that they are being baptized in order to remove the original sin?

^Well, I've learned from my experiences that everyone needed something 'supernatural' to follow. It's some sort of handle that keeps them on, and it kinda assures them that it's not just darkness after death. That's also why people before would worship pagans like golden idols purely because they needed something 'godly' to worship.
Human imperfections. Sigh. Or stupidity.

Meh, I believed that they NEED to know that after death, they're gone forever. They need to learn to live their lives to the fullest, because this life might be the only life they have. There might not be an afterlife.
